Our Team
Michael Maughon
Michael is a wildlife educator. After leaving a career as an acrobatic performer in Las Vegas Michael returned to Tennessee, started an exotic animal rescue, and began working at Doe River Gorge doing outdoor education. This animal rescue later turned into what is now Genesis Animal Sanctuary. Prior to starting Genesis Michael worked at an exotic animal rescue in Florida and a wildlife rescue in North Carolina.
Sara Allyson Maughon
Sara grew up on a small farm in North Florida before moving to Tennessee and meeting her husband, Michael. She has always had a deep-rooted connection to animals that stemmed to horses. At a very young age she became an established horse rider and barrel racer. Sara now continues her passion for agriculture and animal rescue through the farm and Genesis Animal Sanctuary. Though she works full-time at a nonprofit, Sara stays devoted to her clients and dearly loved animals.

Intelligent Design
In nature we see how perfect animals are to do what they do. This does not happen by random chance, it happens by design. When we look at the fossil record there is no evidence of evolution and when we look at how natural selection and mutations actually work there is no possible way for it to be the mechanism of evolution. Evolution can’t explain all of this, but the bible can. Everything we see in nature is consistent with a biblical creation.
The Fossil Record
Do Fossils really show that creatures evolved from simple to complex? No, the fossil record shows two clear features, sudden appearance and stasis. When a new creature shows up in the fossil record it appears suddenly and fully formed with no gradual forms that lead up to it (Sudden Appearance). Then its basic form stays the same, it doesn’t evolve (Stasis). Instead of gradual evolution, the fossil record shows forms that suddenly appear and stay the same. That is what we would expect to find. God’s fully formed creation we read about in the book of genesis.
Natural Selection & Mutation
Natural selection and mutations are considered the driving force of evolution, but natural selection and mutations cannot add the information necessary to change one kind of organism into another. Science demonstrates that organisms lose genetic information over time, they don’t gain it. Their is no known process that lets organisms add information to their genetic code. None.
Genesis 1:21
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
